MCD Innovations, an Airxcel Brand

Everything you need to know about MCD Innovations, a Division of Airxcel Inc. The company was founded in 2003 by full-time RVers Dave and Carla Townsley beginning business as a manufacturer of upscale windshield shades for RV OEMs and the aftermarket. MCD Innovations has proudly served the RV Industry since 2003 from McKinney, Texas. We have enjoyed a great reputation for customer service, high-quality product, innovative technology, and product development. All products are made in the USA, built to exacting tolerances, and utilize superior quality components.

When it opened in 2003, MCD Innovations was housed in a 7,500 sq. ft. building and employed a total of six people. By 2005 MCD had relocated to a 25,000 sq. ft. facility where it launched its flag-ship product, American Duo® Roller Shades, into the RV market with just 45 employees on staff. In 2010 MCD expanded again in response to staggering product demand moving to a 9.6-acre campus in McKinney, Texas, where its headquarters is still located today.

The McKinney campus features a 56,000 sq. ft., climate-controlled manufacturing and office space that houses a ground-breaking research and innovation division, extensive machine shop capabilities utilizing computer-controlled equipment, and a complete fabrication department with a 24-hours-a-day testing process to ensure the highest-level of quality control standards are applied to every set of shades coming out of the MCD facilities.

In 2016 MCD Innovations joined the Airxcel family of brands.

Nowadays, you can see MCD shades on Class A, B, C, 5th wheels, and travel trailers with models suitable for most any window or door within an RV. In addition to dominating the RV window shades industry, MCD shades are also in thousands of commercial and residential spaces such as Dunkin' Donuts (in over 8,000 locations), STIHL, and others.
